Yesterday afternoon, multiple members received information regarding a business robbery in progress in the Sunderland Ridge area. Responding members quickly obtained the suspects’ descriptions and vehicle details. The suspects were later spotted travelling along the R55, where they opened fire on the responding officers in an attempt to evade arrest.
Through the use of tactical measures, the suspects were successfully stopped and apprehended. A total of seven suspects were arrested on the scene. Firearms, vehicles used in the crime, and stolen stock valued at approximately R1.8 million were recovered.
All relevant SAPS services attended the scene to process the evidence and assist in the ongoing investigation.
